U.S Vs China: Trump Changes Decision On WHO, To Resume Funding

The World Health Organization (WHO) will start receiving funds from the United States Government, after months of accusation by the Trump administration.

THE WHISTLER had reported how the U.S. government (being the biggest donor to WHO) under Trump had halted funds to the global health agency on April 14, on the allegation that WHO mismanaged information on Covid-19 and was also “China-Centric”.

According to Fox News, in a five-page draft letter to WHO, the administration will “agree to pay up to what China pays in assessed contributions” to the WHO.

“Despite [its] shortcomings, I believe that the WHO still has tremendous potential, and want to see the WHO live up to this potential, particularly now during this global crisis” the President’s draft letter reads, as cited by Fox News.

Recall that Bill Gates, being a major financier of medical researches across the globe, had faulted the decision of Trump to halt funds to WHO, adding that the health organization was most competent to contain the pandemic.

WHO had also debunked Trump’s allegations, adding it properly updated the world about the evolving nature of the Coronavirus pandemic.
