UN Official Hails Abia’s Progress Under Governor Otti, Pledges UNDP Support

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has expressed support for the development strides made by Abia State under Governor Alex Otti.

UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Assistant Administrator, Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa-Onochie, expressed joy at the state’s development during a meeting with the Abia First Lady and her team at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

She spoke about the UNDP’s plans to assist Abia in achieving sustainable growth, particularly by introducing technological advancements in Aba’s shoemaking industry.

This initiative, she stated, aims to boost exports and enhances the global recognition of Aba-made products.

Ms. Eziakonwa-Onochie further pledged continued UNDP support for the state government’s women empowerment initiatives.

The governor’s wife, Mrs Priscilla Otti, expressed gratitude for the UN’s support and reaffirmed her husband’s commitment to fulfilling his development plans and campaign promises. She was joined by key advisors focused on vulnerable groups, poverty alleviation, and women’s affairs.
