Voter Registration: Ondo Govt Declares Thursday Work-Free

Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has declared Thursday as work-free day.

He made the declaration to enable public servants participate in the continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise in the state which will be suspended on Friday, August 31, until after the 2019 elections.

A statement issued by the State Commissioner, Yemi Olowolabi on Wednesday said the resolution follows the State Executive Council.

The CVR, which was to have been suspended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) two weeks ago ahead of the 2019 general elections, was extended to enable more people register.

According to NAN, Mr Akeredolu called on the people of the state to take full advantage of the opportunity to register and obtain their Permanent Voters Cards, to be able to vote in the forthcoming general elections.

He said that the work-free day on Thursday be observed in the state to allow public servants participate in the CVR, ahead of Friday’s suspension of the exercise.
