Why PDP Will Punish Those Behind Court Order On Secondus – Ogidi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may take disciplinary measures against the group of persons who secured an interim order restraining Prince Uche Secondus from exercising the functions of national chairman of the party.

Emmanuel Ogidi, former PDP national vice chairman for South-South region, stated this while featuring on Arise TV’s ‘The Good Morning Show’ programme monitored by THE WHISTLER on Tuesday.

Ogidi said by approaching the court to secure the interim order against Secondus, the individuals violated an agreement reached by stakeholders of the party on amicable resolution of the leadership crisis facing the party.

Justice Okogbule Gbasam of the Rivers State High Court had issued the interim order in a suit brought before the court by four persons: Ibeawuchi Alex, Dennis Amadi, Emmanuel Stephen, and Umeziriki Onucha.

The individuals had filed the suit despite the recent intervention of PDP Governors Forum and Board of Trustees (BoT) members aimed at resolving the leadership crisis.

As an immediate measure to resolve the crisis, the PDP governors and BoT members had reached a resolution to bring forward the party’s national convention which would lead to the election of a new executives.

Ogidi said during the interview that any party member who attempts to undermine the national convention and the processes leading to it “would be disciplined (because) nobody is above discipline in the party.”

He was, however, asked why the PDP disciplinary committee had failed to take measures to stop the leadership crisis rocking the party by punishing erring members.

On if the development does not indicate a failure of responsibility on the part of the disciplinary committee, Ogidi said:

“We must first of all vacate the court order (against Secondus) before we now go into the disciplinary measures.

“We need to know who the offenders are. It is possible those names you have seen are not our party members. And once they are found out, we know what to do. If they are party members, we are going to discipline them.”

Odigi also claimed that the challenges currently facing the PDP was being sponsored by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, Secondus has reportedly obeyed the court order by stepping aside as PDP chairman.
