Woman Declares Husband ‘Missing’ After Reporting Himself To Police In Enugu, Friends React

An Enugu housewife, Mrs Eberechukwu Harry, has claimed that her husband, Obi Harry Mama, of Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State is missing after he allegedly reported himself to the office of the Anti-Kidnap Squad in Enugu on Monday.

She told THE WHISTLER she spoke to her husband last on Monday, the day he reported to the police anti-kidnap squad.

Before reporting himself to the police, Mama had on his facebook page, announced that he was tendering himself to the Anti-Kidnap office, Enugu, following the visit to his house by its operatives.

The post reads, “PRESS RELEASE, Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Join me as I prepare myself to meet with the officers of the Anti-Kidnap Squad, Enugu, today, 17th May, 2021.

“They visited my house twice last two Sundays, 2nd May, 2021 to arrest me, though I travelled out of the state; but I humbly spoke to the leader of the group by name, Mr Joseph, whom I eventually explained the reason for the travel through phone conversation.

“I assured him that I shall come to their office at Abakaliki road, Enugu, to know the reason for their visit. I have returned from travel and ready to visit the office today.

“I am a law-abiding citizen of Enugu State. I am not a kidnapper; have never involved myself in any secret affairs. Whoever is behind this unlawful intimidation and harassment of my family, my person or colleagues should know that ndi Enugu are taking records of the steps.

“I cannot be sabotaged for sharing my views and contributions of other people for a better society. We are expected to trade without bitterness and with-hunt for one another since Enugu belongs to all of us. Everyone should be aware of my movement and where I am; where to find me as from 10am, Monday 17th, May 2021.

“Please our leaders, colleagues, members of Enugu political arena and government of our dear state should take note of this. I am still my humble, loyal and ever rational self, Comr Obi Mamah H, from the commonwealth of Ezimo (Admin).”

His wife, Eberechukwu, told THE WHISTLER that, “We last spoke on Monday. We have three kids; currently expecting another. They should please release him for our sake. I’m dying slowly. We want to see him; at least for the sake of our unborn child.”

His friends also reacted on their facebook pages to his alleged disappearance.

According to one Ikechukwu, “The peaceful and God-fearing son of Ezimo is missing. Let’s pray for his release where ever he is.”

Bende Analyst Newspaper wrote, “COMRADE OBINNA H. MAMAH MISSING. Alarm has been raised over the whereabouts of Comr. Obinna H. Mamah, according to information posted by Hon Jude lloegbu on his Facebook wall.

“The information stated that on 17th May, 2021, that he, Hon Iloegbu, called Comr Obinna on phone and he, Obinna, told him that he was invited to the Abakaliki road police station.

“Comr Obinna is a hard core supporter of Senator like Ekweremadu for Enugu State governorship 2023 election. The wife of Obinna stated that when she called her husband last, that he told her he was on his way to Anti-Kidnap office, and that since then, his two telephone lines switched off.”

One Ifesinachi wrote, “I don’t really understand what is happening in this country now: fully grown man like this missing for three days now, and everywhere in Enugu State, Nsukka, Udenu and Ezimo [is] calm.”

The police PRO, Enugu State, Mr Daniel Ndukwe, did not respond to the message sent to him on this matter.
