Zaria Water Project: Future Generations Will Repay Construction Loans – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the coming generations will repay the loans taken to fund the Zaria Water Supply and Expansion Project.

He made the statement on Thursday at the commissioning of the Water Project in Kaduna state which is in its second phase.

The project which was financed by the Federal Government, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Kaduna State Government is expected to end decades of water scarcity in Zaria and environs.

“This project is the culmination of the joint efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Kaduna State Government, Islamic Development Bank and the African Development Bank,” the president said in a press statement.

While challenging the Kaduna State Water Corporation to adequately manage the infrastructure, the president said that it must be maintained so that it lasts for decades.

“The project is partly funded by loans that will be repaid by coming generations. We should ensure that they are appreciative even as they continue to pay back the loans,” the President said.
