10 Nollywood Stars Missing In Action in 2019

The Nigerian movie industry, popularly known as Nollywood has seen a number of stars missing in action due to death, since the beginning of 2019.

Since 2011 when the industry was shocked by the death of legendary comic actor, Sam Loco Efe, Nollywood has been hit with multiple tragedies.

Over the years, the industry has lost many talented actors and actresses, but 2019 may top the list in the number of deaths.

THE WHISTLER brings you a list of actors and actresses who have passed on in 2019.

Tony Anyasodor, 51

According to reports, Anyasodor had been admitted in a hospital in Imo state before he passed away in the early hours of Thursday, March 7, 2019 after he battled with diabetes. He was a Nollywood genre.

LinChung Duke Oliver 45.

Duke ‘LinChung’ Oliver passed away on April 2 at age 45. He passed away after a car crash on his way to Lagos from his mom’s burial. He was also known as Silvanus, was a Do-good series actor also Nollywood genre.

Abe Ishola Monsurat Olabisi 39

According to her friend, she passed away on Saturday, March 30 at age 39. Her death was announced days after she delivered a baby girl. She was a producer and member of the Lagos Island branch of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN also a Yoruba actress.

Henry Okoro 36

Henry Okoro died following injuries sustained during a fatal accident that occurred on May 11. He was an actor before taking a backseat to work as director and producer after a decade. He was Nollywood genre and died at 36.

Gbenga ‘Burger’ Akintunde 58.

Gbenga ‘Burger’ Akintunde died on Thursday, January 3 at the age of 47, after visiting the hospital to complain of malaria, his death was announced by his friend Kunle Afod, who took his Instagram page to write. He features in Yoruba movie.

Eddie Ugboma 78

Eddie Ugboma died on May 11 after a health challenge. He would be remembered for his role as Oyenusi in a film of the same title. He was a Nollywood great who died at 78

Funmilayo ‘Ijewuru’ Ogunsola 58.

According to a family member, Adebisi Ogunsola, broke the news of her death on Facebook on Monday, February 4 in Ibadan at the age of 58. She was a popular actress and was married to the late movie star, Ishola ‘I show Pepper’ Ogunsola. she was a seasoned Yoruba actress.

Her husband was one of the founding members of Association of National Theater Arts Practitioners.

Adewale Olanrewaju 36.

It was revealed that a young Yoruba actor, Adewale Olanrewaju aka ‘Ishow Larry’ also passed away. The two deaths left a hole in the heart of their families, friends, colleagues and fans with eulogies pouring in on different social media platforms – majorly Facebook and Instagram.

Alfred Rotimi Popoola 51.

He was a veteran Yoruba actor and one of the pioneers of the Yoruba movie industry. Alfred, who was also known as ‘Ilu Venture’, passed away on Thursday, February 27 in Abeokuta, Ogun state. He died at 51. Popoola has featured in several Yoruba movies including ‘Aiye Foreign,’ and ‘Ropo Ijogbon.’

Prince Dammy Eke 41

Prince Dammy Eke was a Nigerian actor, film director, writer and television personality. The Nollywood star reportedly slumped and was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. He died on April 28 at the age 41.
