2019: Trouble For APC As OBJ, Atiku, Secondus Meet To Strategise Buhari’s Removal

There are no longer doubts that former president Olusegun Obasanjo is determined to see to President Muhammadu Buhari’s removal from office in 2019 as he has met on Tuesday night with his former vice president and 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja.

The meeting, which had in attendance the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, came on the heels the North-West zonal presidential rally of the opposition party that held at the Shehu Kangiwa Square in Sokoto State on Monday.

The meeting was said to have been centered on how the President Buhari administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be ousted in 2019.

According to Punch, Obasanjo and the PDP leaders took a review of the North-West and upcoming zonal campaigns of the party ahead of the state-by-state campaign that would follow.

The newspaper also reported that the former president ensured that Atiku settled the alleged rift between himself and former governor of Adamawa state, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, as wells as the former vice president’s rift with ex-aide, Dr Umar Ardo.

The reconciliation may see Nyako who had previously defected from the PDP to the APC, before later defecting alongside his son Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), return to the PDP.

“It was a family and an elaborate meeting. Baba (Obasanjo) is a fantastic leader. I have never seen such a man who combines energy with intellect and political sagacity,” Punch quoted a source privy to discussions at the meeting as saying.

“He spoke at length to everyone, including the Waziri (Atiku) and others that were there.

“He had successfully settled the rift between Atiku and Nyako and the disagreements between Atiku and Ardo. Now, we have Adamawa to take because all the power brokers are behind us.”
