412 COVID-19 Deaths, Over 11,000 Recoveries Recorded In Africa Within 24 Hours

About 412 Covid-19 patients died in Africa in the last 24 hours, according to the latest World Health Organization (WHO) figures.

The death rate rose from 23,870 to 24,282 in 24 hours.

Also, the WHO’s dashboard captured that the recovery rate climbed from more than 759,000 to over 770,000; over 11,000 discharges added.

In a tweet on Thursday, WHO Africa Region also stated that the total confirmed cases on the continent now stands at 1,074,568.

South Africa, being the epicentre, recorded 131 deaths in 24 hours while 11,010 is the cumulative death number in the country.

Recall that WHO had maintained that the Covid-19 pandemic was still far from over.

It called for the strengthening of health systems while urging everyone to strictly comply with the public health advisory on Covid-19, which include washing of hands, use of hand sanitizer, disinfection of public places and social distancing.
