‘Aboki Boys’ Burnt Our Vehicles While Police Watched, Says Apo Car Dealer

Some car dealers at the Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja have explained how northern youths known as “Aboki” set over 15 vehicles on fire on Monday while the EndSARS protests were on-going.

Our Correspondent who visited the scene of the incidence at the Apo Mechanic village on Tuesday, counted 15 cars that were burnt beyond recognition while 14 were badly vandalised.

Azeez Adisa, a car dealer who lost vehicles worth millions of naira, said he witnessed the mayhem.

He said the hoodlums were “Aboki boys” and they suddenly appeared and started destroying cars with harmful tools before setting them ablaze.

He said they first chased all the dealers away before spraying petrol on the vehicles.

Adiza said, “Police were at that junction. They didn’t come near the place. They stayed just there (pointing at the Kabusa Junction, Apo) with two Hilux. They were there for almost one hour while hoodlums injured scores of people”.

Adisa, told our correspondent that he was now in a financial crisis because a customer had deposited N2million for a Toyota High Lander worth N5million which was among the vandalised cars.

Another witness, Temitope Olushola, pleaded with the federal government to come to their aid and assist all those directed affected by the accident including those in the hospital who sustained injuries.

THE WHISTLER was informed that about 10 persons were injured and are currently at the hospital receiving treatment.

One Uchenna Ngwu told this newspaper that hoodlums were operating in Waru and Wumba of Apo this morning and that the places “were no go areas.
