APC Reacts To Huge Crowd Welcoming Saraki To Kwara

The recent mammoth crowd that welcomed former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, after a prolonged absence from Kwara State has sparked a reaction from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

THE WHISTLER reported that Saraki, a two-time former Kwara State governor and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had visited the state on Saturday after about 21 months of being away.

The former senate president visited the state to mark the 8th anniversary of the death of his late father and prominent Kwara politician, Olushola Saraki.

Reacting to the huge crowd that received Saraki on arrival from the Ilorin International Airport, the Kwara APC said the former senate president posed no threat to its party.

The Kwara APC Chairman, Bashir Bolarinwa, stated this at an event to mark the 14th anniversary of the death of a former governor of the state, Mohammed Lawal, on Sunday.

Bolarinwa said, “Let me say this for all to hear. We are not disallowing anybody from entering the state.

“We know that Saraki can no longer pose any threat to APC in the state.

“God that was with us yesterday is forever with us. Our members have no reason to entertain any fear.

“Saraki’s domination of Kwara political landscape is gone for good,” he said.

Meanwhile, photos from the remembrance prayer organised for Saraki’s late father on Saturday, suggested that incumbent Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, shunned the event.

Abdulrazaq, who is a member of the APC, had however attended the 14th remembrance prayer organised in honour of Lawal.

The governor tweeted on Sunday, “Today I joined family and friends at the 14th remembrance prayer for former governor of Kwara State, Late Alhaji Muhammad Alabi Lawal. He was a great patriot who stood and worked for a better Kwara. May Allah forgive him and grant him peace.”
