By-Election: APC Debunks Claim Of Parallel Primary For Imo-North Senatorial Poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, said the Senator Surajudeen Basiru-led Primary Election Committee for the Imo-North Senatorial District By-Election was the duly appointed and legitimate panel.

Spokesman of the party, Yekini Nabena stated this on Thursday night against the backdrop of media reports of a purported “parallel” primary election for the legislative by-election in Imo State.

According to Nabena, the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee duly empowered the Basiru-chaired committee to conduct the exercise.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed October 31st as date for the conduct of the concurrent legislative by-elections.

The elections will be held in eight states of the country.

Meanwhile, the primaries of the party for the by-election were conducted on Thursday.
