COVID-19: Ebonyi Records First Case, 300 People For Test

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has announced the first Coronavirus case in the State.

He made this known in a video broadcast on Sunday.

According to him
the first case is a 31 year old man, from Ukawu Onicha Local Government Area(LGA) of the state.

The governor said the index case operated a transport ( and carries food items) business between Ondo and Ebonyi and also conveys passengers back to the state.

Umahi said that despite the lockdown, the index with three other passengers were able to pass through it borders unnoticed but was eventually caught at Okposi Ohaozara LGA, where he was taken to a nearby police and then to the stadium at the state capital.

The governor added that tests were conducted on the four of them, but the index case test result showed positive while the rest showed negative.

“The young man is strong, he is not looking sick and we have isolated him,” the governor added.

Furthermore, Umahi said that 300 people around the stadium where the index case was taken to(where physical contact was made) would be tested within two days.

He pleaded with anyone who made physical contact with the index case to come forward for test, for the safety of the state.
