Ebonyi LG Officials Show Support For Gov Umahi’s Defection To APC

Elected and appointed officers of the thirteen local government areas of Ebonyi State, Monday evening, embarked on a solidarity visit to the Ebonyi Government House in support of the defection of Governor David Umahi to the All Progressives Congress.

The visit turned into a colourful scenario as the chairmen, appointed officials and a large number of APC supporters turned it into a carnival.

Governor Umahi, in a speech, commended the officials for the support, adding that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the state would soon go aground.

In his words, “In 2014, we were not up to five percent of this population. If the five percent could do what we did in 2015, how much more now that we are everywhere? I have sacrificed myself to bring the Southeast to the centre. I continue to watch some people that want to retire themselves in politics.”

Governor Umahi attributed the infrastructural development in Ebonyi to President Muhammadu Buhari’s love for the people of the state, urging them to continue to support the administration of Buhari for the rapid development of the state.

The chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Ebonyi State chapter, Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku, told newsmen that they staged the solidarity in honour of the governor because he had taken a route that would be beneficial to the entire Igbo race.

Iyioku, who doubles as the chairman of Ohaozara LGA, added that, “I want to let you know that we at the grassroots are with you; God is with you. We want to let you know that we completely support your move to the APC. All of us at the grassroots are with you. Anywhere you are is where we will be.”
