Edo Poll: Cleric Seeks God’s Intervention To Help Voters Elect Accountable Leader

The cleric prayed for God’s guidance in leading the people to vote in a leader next Saturday, who would be accountable to them.

He also prayed against any plans to cause violence in the state during and after the poll.

“Praying for peace over the Edo State Nigeria elections, for wisdom and courage for the citizens to vote leaders they can make accountable, and for all plans to cause violence to fail,” Adeyemi tweeted on Wednesday.

This is coming almost 24 hours after the British High Commission advised the supporters of the All Progressive Congress and People Democratic Party to shun violence.

It also warned that it would among other things, place a visa ban on election riggers.

The election in state is undoubtedly drawing international attention.

The United States Government also stated that it would be monitoring the election.

“We condemn the acts of violence, intimidation, or corruption that harmed Nigerians and undermined the democratic process.

“As the Edo and Ondo State off-cycle elections near, we urge all stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission, the political parties, and the security services, to uphold the tenets of democracy and facilitate genuinely free and fair elections, conducted in an appropriately transparent and non-violent manner,” US Department of States Spokesperson, Morgan Ortagus had stated.
