EndSARS: Many Feared Dead As Protesters, Police Clash In Surulere

An unconfirmed number of persons are feared dead following a clash between EndSARS protesters and operatives of the anti-kidnapping squad of the police in Surulere, Lagos State.

According to reports, members of the squad had opened fire on the protesters, killing two people, while the clash also resulted in the shooting of three police officers.

TVC reports that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had visited the anti-kidnapping unit in Surulere over the incident.

A video posted on Twitter showed some of the protesters trying to revive one of their members allegedly shot by the police.

Meanwhile, the incident came a day after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad following wild protests in parts of the country.

Nigerians had been taking to the streets to ask the police force to scrap the unit and prosecute officers accused of extra-judicial killings, extortion and rights abuse.
