According to Yusuf, there is an urgent need for the Federal Government to reopen borders and facilitate free importation of essential goods, especially during Ramadan, to alleviate the suffering of the masses.

“We wish to appreciate the President’s intervention on the ongoing national food initiative which he considers Kano as the host for the initiative to be launched believing that the programme will cushion the effects of food scarcity if implemented,” he said in a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.

During the meeting, Governor Yusuf appreciated the Nigerian Customs’ initiative to distribute food items to Kano residents, emphasizing the importance of reaching those most affected by hardship and hunger.

He assured the Service of his support in endeavours that would benefit Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
