JUST IN: Like China, U.S. Launches Space Robot To Mars

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) on Thursday, launched a ‘Perseverence Mars Rover’ robot towards planet Mars for exploration purposes.

A rover is a space machine device designed to explore other planetary bodies.

The machine which was airlifted from Florida by an Atlas rocket, is “to search for signs of ancient life.”

This was confirmed in a tweet on Thursday by Vice President, Mike Pence.

Recall that the Trump Administration had established a Space Force, a new wing of the U.S. military.

“Congratulations to the teams at @NASA and @ulalaunch for successfully launching the nuclear-powered rover, @NASAPersevere, to Mars! #CountdownToMars,” Pence tweeted.

On his part, NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine, also tweeted that the object is already far above sea level.

“Main engine cutoff and spacecraft separation is confirmed!

” @NASAPersevere is flying on its own as it heads to Mars,” he tweeted.

The development is coming days after China, on July 23, dispatched an unmanned rocket towards planet Mars.

Spokesman for
Wenchang Space Launch Centre,Liu Tongjie, said that the rocket would arrive the planet in February 2021, and is expected to explore it for 90 days.
