Keyamo Reacts To PDP’s Apology, ‘Wait Till 2023’

Festus Keyamo, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has advised Nigerians to observe the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) till 2023 to see if they have truly repented before bringing them back to power.

Keyamo said this via his official Twitter handle, @fkeyamo, on Tuesday.

The senior advocate was reacting to the apology the PDP made to Nigerians to give it another chance to correct its mistakes of 16 years.

The PDP on Monday organised a public forum on contemporary politics and governance, where it received contributions from both the youths and the old.

PDP’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus, at the forum, admitted the party’s wrongs and apologised for its failures.

But, Keyamo in the statement said Nigerians cannot afford to bring the PDP back to power in 2019.

“I’m glad PDP took the advice which I gave below & has apologised to Nigerians. Next step is for Nigerians to carefully observe them till, at least, 2023 to see if they’ve truly repented, then ease them gradually back by first voting them into some LGA councillorship positions,” he wrote.

“PDP apology means that the party is like a patient that has undergone a major surgical operation to cure a disease. It can’t be discharged immediately. It must be under observation for a while. So 2019 is for just observation of PDP. Nigerians cannot afford to bring them back yet.”
