Mikel Makes Club’s Player Of The Month Shortlist After ‘Impressive Performances’

Former Super Eagles midfielder and captain, John Mikel Obi, has been shortlisted for his club’s player of the month award.

Mikel 33, signed for EFL Championship Club, Stoke City, after ending his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor over his comments on the club’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic

Stoke City teamed up with Acting Motor group to give fans the chance to vote for their favorite player for the month.

A club statement on their official website states :” Another member of the squad who played every minute throughout October, John Obi Mikel put in a number of impressive performances as the Potters recorded four wins from seven.


The 33-year-old was a formidable presence in the heart of midfield and used his extensive experience to guide the team, particularly in clashes against Aston Villa and Barnsley.
His standing in the squad also saw Michael O’Neill hand the former Nigeria international the captain’s armband for the final four matches of the month.”

Mikel Obi was nominated alongside club mates Harry Souttar, Tyrese Campbell, Steven Fletcher.

Obi has play all games in October for Stoke City and has given one assist.
