#EndSARS: Police Commence Training For SWAT Personnel

Over 400 operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) have commenced training at the Police Mobile College in Eggon, Nasarawa State.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, was among officials who inspected the training exercise.

The minister in his opening remarks expressed his excitement over the progress the police was making with regards to SWAT.

“I believe at the end of this exercise you are going to come out as very dedicated and very committed mobile police officers who will be equal to the task we have assigned to you.

”Your new responsibility as replacement for SARS is to face the challenges of armed robbery and other crimes across the country,” he said.

Dingyadi, acknowledged the changing times while advising the personnel to uphold the principles of democracy and human rights as they get set to carry out their new task.

He assured the personnel of the president’s readiness to improve their welfare and other packages promised them.

Recall that the establishment of the new police unit was birthed out of the raging demands of Nigerians to scrap the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
