NNPC Begins Repairs On Leaking Gas Pipeline Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has deployed technicians to the scene of the gas leakage detected on one of its pipelines at Magboro, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, on Wednesday.

THE WHISTLER reported earlier that the gas leakage had caused panic amongst residents of the community who took to social media to call the attention of relevant authorities to the incident.

But the NNPC is said to have successfully shut down the leaking pipeline while its officials carry out repair works on the defective facility.

The cause of the gas leakage has yet to be ascertained, but the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, announced in a tweet that the affected area had been cordoned off.

Akosile also disclosed that officers from the Warewa Police Station had been deployed to the area to control movement of persons and forestall any unforeseen circumstances.
