NSCDC CG Calls For Increased Vigilance In FCT, Commissions New Division In Kwali

The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi, has urged residents of Kwali, Gwagwalada, and Kuje area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to heighten their security awareness.

The caution came during the inauguration of a new division donated to the NSCDC in Kwali on Thursday.

Audi tasked the residents on timely intelligence reports, noting that criminals exploit the cover provided by bushes and hills in the outskirts areas to carry out their activities.

“Security agencies are on top of the situation; however, we need vital intelligence from citizens. If you see something, say something because without that, we can’t perform magic,” Audio asserted

He promised that, “Whatever information supplied will be treated confidentially and together we shall find a solution to this menace of insecurity.”

The CG further urged community leaders and traditional rulers to scrutinize visitors before accepting them into their communities, noting the potential threat posed by individuals with malicious intent.

“Visitors should be profiled before accepting them within the community because some of these bad guys come and live within us and begin to plan attacks.

“The primary responsibility of the Federal Government is to provide safety and security for citizens,” Audi remarked, expressing confidence that the newly inaugurated office would enhance the Corps’ operational efficiency within Kwali.

“Kwali LGA has demonstrated that security is everyone’s business and that Kwali is now rated as one of the LGAs to donate this edifice to our service.

“You have done your part so we will do our part as it is now our responsibility to equip the office with all necessary equipment to put the edifice to use,” the CG said.

Addressing the community’s request for employment opportunities, Audi acknowledged the challenges of unemployment but assured that the plea would be forwarded for consideration.

“There is unemployment in the society and the labor market is saturated but I have listened to you and will carry forward your request to my principal for consideration,” he assured.

Earlier, the Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya, said the community donated the NSCDC division building as a symbol of support for the Corps’ mission and urged the CG to consider the council for employment opportunities.

“We are commissioning a place where the corps will stay to discharge their duties for the betterment of Kwali.

“We present this office to you; whatever we need to do to support you, we will do morally and financially as the council brought millions to make this a reality,” Chiya said.
