Obaseki Hails Edo People, PDP Govs, Buhari, Others

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has thanked the people of the state for supporting him to emerge victorious in the Saturday governorship poll.

Reacting to his victory on Sunday, Obaseki hailed his deputy, Philip Shaibu, for being a loyal ally and for his rugged commitment towards defeating godfatherism in the state.

The governor, who was returned elected for another four years, hailed Governor Nyesom Woke; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Governor Seyi Makinde for the support they gave him before, during and after the poll.

The governor-elect also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari; INEC and security agencies for organising a credible election.

He said, ‘The great people of Edo have spoken. We thank God and give him all the glory for the victory.

“I also thank President Muhammadu Buhari for defending our democracy by allowing the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies to do their jobs. Both organisations have shown that they can organise free, fair and credible election.

“I am also grateful to the people, the party and my brothers – Governors Nyesom Wike of River State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Seyi Makinde because of the umbrella they gave me during turbulent times.

“I also thank them for the support given to me in my re-election bid,” he added.”
