The car dealer in a chat with THE WHISTLER said on Thursday that Melaye was still indebted to the company.

“He is owing us money,” the dealer said in a phone chat, but refused to disclose the car brand.

Our reporter placed a second call by 11:58am to the car dealer during which he alleged that the debt has lingered for over three years.

The dealer said, “I don’t want to tell you anything. He is owing me money that is all. That is what I want to say. He is owing me money. If he wants to deny it, he can come out and deny it.

“I don’t need to tell you. It is my business,” he said when asked the amount involved, adding ” It is a personal thing between me and him. I have put it there, so, I am not denying it. He is owing me money simple.

“Am a car dealer what do you expect him to owe me money on. Is it not a car? He is owing me money. So, if you know him or know his people, tell him to pay or tell him to contact me, because I have sent messages to him and he is not replying. So, that was why I put it there. It is over three years so, it is not a recent transaction.”

Melaye is popular for his obsessions for  exotic cars.

He has posed with a Ferrari California parked in his garage. The car has an estimated worth of about N45m. He has also taken a picture of himself with a McLaren MP4-12C car.

His Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is worth about N83million.

Attempts to reach the former senator proved abortive as his MTN line was switched off and his Glo mobile number  at 11:43am was also not responding.

THE WHISTLER also sent a message to him via WhatsApp and text at 12:26pm, but the message was not replied.
