Shehu Sani Hits Osinbajo Over Comment On Lekki Shooting

The former Senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, over his sympathy message to Nigerians on the alleged shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday.

Osinbajo had spoken on the incident on Wednesday night, more than 24 hours after the soldiers reportedly killed and injured some protesters.

The vice president had tweeted, “My heart goes out to all the victims of the Lekki shootings, and also the  policemen and all other men and women who lost their lives in the past few days in different parts of Lagos & other states.”

But responding minutes after Osinbajo’s tweet, Sani suggested that the vice president was insincere about his sympathy message.

“Whenever their ‘heart goes out’ in the day,it comes back in the night,” the former Senator wrote in a tweet.

Prior to the shooting incident, the Lagos State Government had imposed an indefinite 24-hour curfew on the state following reports that hoodlums were hijacking the protests to commit crime.

The protesters had been demonstrating against the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

Operatives of the police unit had over the years been accused of extra-judicial killings, extortion and rights abuses.
