Super Eagles Will Not Lose Focus Against Guinea-Bissau – Peseiro

Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has revealed that the team will not lose focus despite beating Ivory Coast on Thursday.

Peseiro led the team to a 1-0 win over the hosts courtesy of a second half penalty by William Troost-Ekong.

The team produced an improved performance in the game to get their Nations Cup campaign on track following a poor showing in the first match.

Peseiro is confident that the team will not be carried away by their performance against Ivory Coast.

Peseiro said, “We defeated Cote d’Ivoire, but that is already in the past. We know that in football, what counts is the moment. We must temper our confidence, and put in more work as required. We must not rest.

“We want to take the first place and for that, we must do battle. We must do what is necessary to accomplish our mission tomorrow,”

Guinea-Bissau defeated Nigeria at the Nations Cup qualifiers but Peseiro is not thinking of a revenge in Ivory Coast.

“We are not thinking about revenge but we are here to top the group and they are in our sights. We must do what has to be done. Guinea Bissau have no point and will play with freedom, and that is when a team becomes dangerous.”

The clash against Guinea-Bissau is Nigeria’s 100th match in Nations Cup’s history, and a win will see the Super Eagles finish as group leaders with seven points, provided Equatorial Guinea does not defeat Ivory Coast with a high scoreline.

The match is billed for 6pm Nigerian time at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpe on Monday.
