Blair, who was the Labour party’s flag bearer (1994-2007), said Britain was not doing well and as such, any mistake made would put the country in a bad situation.

“We’re a mess. The buoyancy of the world economy has kept us going up to now, but should that falter, we will be in deep trouble,” he said.

He argued that both major parties were “peddling fantasies”, and that their political plans and programmes will be unfavourable to the British people.

But he predicted that according to opinion polls, Boris Johnson may likely win the election.
