Troops Kill 24 Terrorists In Sambisa, Konduga Raids

…Recover Arms, Food in Northeast Raids

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have killed 24 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and recovered weapons, food items, and logistics in a series of coordinated operations conducted between July 4 and 9, 2025 across multiple locations in the North East Theatre.

In a joint effort, the troops received close air support from the Air Component. They collaborated with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, enabling several successful ambushes and clearance missions targeting terrorist hideouts.

During the operations, the troops recovered a total of six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, four motorcycles, and a large cache of logistics, including bicycles, slippers, sprayers, pesticides, torchlights, batteries, detergents, salt, rubber shoes, seasoning, and various food items used by the insurgents.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK, confirmed the number of insurgents eliminated and noted that the ongoing close air and ground synergy was pushing terrorists “on the back foot” on Thursday.

On Friday, July 4, troops ambushed JAS/ISWAP fighters on bicycles near Platari, as they moved from the Sambisa Forest toward the Timbuktu Triangle.

“The encounter ended with three terrorists neutralised”.

A follow-up ambush at Komala general area, guided by intelligence, led to the “death of another fighter and the recovery of motorcycles, spare parts, sprayers, and other items”.

That same day, troops conducted a night ambush around Kawuri in Konduga Local Government Area, where they made contact with insurgents and “eliminated two logistics carriers”.

The Army reported that “troops also recovered packets of salt, food seasoning, detergents, and other sundry items.”

On Saturday, July 5, soldiers intercepted terrorists attempting to breach the Madarari IDP Camp in Konduga.

They engaged the attackers, “killing one terrorist, while others escaped with gunshot wounds” noting that “Several rounds of ammunition were also recovered during the area exploitation”.

Troops on a fighting patrol to Leno Kura encountered another group of terrorists and engaged them with a high volume of fire from multiple directions, killing three.

Kovangiya said the area was cleared for possible hideouts.

During night ambushes on Sunday, July 6, troops blocked suspected terrorist crossing points along roads from Ngoshe to Gava, Ashigashiya, and Amuda, neutralising another insurgent in the process.

“On Monday, July 7, troops acted on fresh intelligence and ambushed terrorists’ logistics suppliers near Sabsawa village, killing two. They recovered bicycles, slippers, rubber shoes, batteries, and additional supplies used by the insurgents” Kovangiya noted.

Clearance operations at Bula Marwa on Tuesday, July 8, jointly executed by troops and CJTF with air support, resulted in the “death of one insurgent and the destruction of terrorist shelters. Soldiers also recovered a gun and terrorists’ uniforms”.

In a related operation at Pambula village in Madagali LGA of Adamawa State, troops in conjunction with CJTF and local hunters engaged terrorists in a firefight that led to the “death of one fighter” and the recovery of four motorcycles and a weapon.

The area was further exploited to deny insurgents a haven.

A second clearance mission at Bula Marwa that same day saw troops destroy another terrorist camp and neutralise a fighter, recovering a weapon and uniforms in the process.

On Wednesday, July 9, Kovangiya said, “troops and CJTF launched another clearance operation at Tangalanga and Bula Marwa, killing three terrorists and dismantling more of their life-support infrastructure”.

“Final ambushes in Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages resulted in contact with insurgents, six of whom were killed” he said.

According to him, troops recovered motorcycles and bicycles during subsequent area sweeps.

Kovangiya said the cumulative outcome of the operations reflects “the determination, collaboration, and concerted efforts by the troops of OPHK, to ensure terrorists are placed on the back foot.”
