He said it would be insensitive for anybody to expect them to be working day and night on empty stomach.

The NARD acting president said the state government was still owing them four and-a- half months salaries, COVID-19 allowance, apart from other entitlements.

The doctors, who embarked on a week warning strike last week said they had to go.on.an indefinite strike to press home their demands because the state government, despite the warning strike, last week did not respond to their demands.

He said the strike option became necessary because the government seemed not to understand any other language apart from that.

He explained that the doctors were human beings and felt the pains of patients but he asked patients to also consider the plight of doctors who also have to pay rents and tenants and those fend for their families.
