You’ll Die If You Drink Bleach To Prevent Coronavirus, PTF Warns Nigerians

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, has cautioned Nigerians against drinking bleach to avoid contracting Coronavirus (COVID-19) if they don’t want to lose their lives.

Bleach is a chemical substance used industrially and domestically to remove stains from clothings or other surfaces.

Aliyu gave the warning during the daily briefing on COVID-19 by the presidential task force on Thursday in Abuja.

He said, “Nigerians SHOULD NOT drink bleach, it doesn’t cure coronavirus; it KILLS.”

Aliyu also urged members of the public to disregard the claims in some quarters that hot temperatures could kill the Coronavirus.

“There is no scientific evidence to show that coronavirus cannot survive hot weather,” said the PTF national coordinator.

Aliyu added that, “Wearing a face mask alone is not sufficient enough to protect you from coronavirus. It must be used in addition to other measures.”

He urged the citizens to observe proper respiratory hygiene and abide by the recommended social distancing to stay safe.

Meanwhile, at the briefing, the chairman of the task force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, expressed worry that Nigerians were not abiding by the recommended protocols to avoid contracting the virus.

Mustapha said the PTF observed a high level of non-compliance to the new guidelines across the country.
