AFCON 2023: Nwabali Misses Super Eagles Training Ahead Of Angola Clash

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali missed the team’s training on Monday afternoon ahead of the quarter finals clash against Angola on Friday.

The Chippa United goalkeeper has been impressive for the team in Ivory Coast with assured performances in the first four matches of the competition.

He sustained an injury against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday and was replaced by Francis Uzoho with ten minutes to go.

Monday’s training session was open to the media and all the 24 players participated as preparation for Angola intensifies.

Nwabali told reporters over the weekend that he is unsure if he will be ready for the game against Angola.

He said: “I don’t know [if I would be fit for the next game]. I will still come back.”

Peseiro will be hoping that Nwabali can shake off his injury to feature against Angola with Francis Uzoho and Olorunleke Ojo the options available for the Portuguese manager to choose from.

Uzoho is struggling for form and confidence, while Olorunleke has not been given enough opportunity to show what he is capable of doing for the Super Eagles.

The preparations for the Angola clash continue on Tuesday at the Ecole Nationale de la Police.

Nigerian football faithfuls will be hoping Nwabali regains full fitness in a bid to man the post against Angola on Friday.
