Be Role Models To Your Children, Enugu LG Boss Urges Parents

Chairman, of Igboeze south local government area of Enugu state, Dr Fidelis Odo has called on parents to ensure that they are role models to their children

He made the call while speaking at Ibagwa Aka headquarters of the council during this year’s children’s day celebration.

While noting that his administration placed priorities on the affairs of the children, Odo warned teachers to be dedicated to their duties to reciprocate the commitment of Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to the affairs of teachers, including the recent 13th-month salary paid to all workers in the state.

“Party ward chairmen, councillors, women and youth leaders should monitor children in their wards and be free to notify parents of erring kids or even the council for necessary action before it gets out of hand,” he said.

“I also enjoin parents to raise their children in the fear of God, maintain intimacy with them and provide their needs and above all, live a worthy life since children learn by observation,” he added.

The council’s supervisor for education, Hon Emeka Marcus Ezeugwu, reiterated the council’s determination to routine monitoring of schools to ensure the realization of Dr Odo’s commitment towards sound education in the area.

Traditional rulers, members of the clergy, political office-holders and representatives of various agencies were part of those present at the event.
