Breaking: Hoodlums Set Vehicles Ablaze, Loot Shops In Ibadan

Violence resumed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Thursday as hoodlums reportedly set vehicles ablaze at around Iwo Road area.

The crisis in Iwo Road, our correspondent gathered, happened at the Under Bridge area where one motorcyclist, his bike and a car were set ablaze.

Sources said there were shootings in the area which forced many of them to stay indoors while those who had opened their businesses hurriedly shut them down.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State Police Command, Gbenga Fadeyi, could not be reached on the telephone.

But the Commissioner for Information and Tourism, Wasiu Olatubosun, when contacted said security agents had been deployed to stop the looting and to bring the situation under control.

Recall that the Ojoo Police Station in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state, was burnt down and guns stolen from the place on Tuesday.

The state was largely peaceful on Wednesday and the fresh crisis which erupted on Thursday cane as a surprise to many residents.
