Governor Nasir El-rufai disclosed this on Facebook on Saturday, adding that the directive is ” on condition that worshipers must comply with health protocols.”

According to a statement signed by the Government’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, the directive was in line with the recommendations of the State Covid-19 Task Force.

Among other things, Adekeye reiterated that the public health advisories must be complied with by religious organisations and residents, which includes “wearing Facemasks, Observing physical distancing, practising Respiratory hygiene, Washing hands regularly, avoiding large gatherings, remaining indoors as much as possible and eating immune-boosting Diets.’’

The Special Adviser also stated that places of worship that violates stipulated guidelines would be shut.

‘’Places of worship that persistently fail to comply with the guidelines may be closed to protect the worshippers and the public.’’

Recall that the government had on March 26 restricted all forms of congregational worship, as part of measures geared towards curbing covid-19 spread.

It later allowed Sunday services in churches and Jumaat prayers.

Furthermore, he urged residents not to loose their guards, but to strictly adhere to the covid-19 health protocols.
