Confirming the release hours later, the Presidency said details on how the girls regained freedom will be made available to Nigerans in due course as the released girls are now in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Mansur Dan Ali, Minister of Defence, said last week that the girls would soon be reunited with their parents, as the government is close to securing their release.

Meanwhile, Sahara reporters reports that the insurgents returned 105 of the 110 abducted girls as five of the girls died in Boko Haram captivity.

Recall that members of Boko Haram insurgents had invaded the school last month, abducting some of the girls.

The Federal Government subsequently confirmed that 110 girls were unaccounted for after the incident.

“Out of the total register of 906 students in school that day, 110 students are unaccounted,” Alhaji Lai Mohammed, minister of information, said after a meeting in Yobe last month.
