Delta Police Nab Four Suspected Cultists Hiding in Asaba Hotel Ceiling

In a swift operation, the Delta State Police Command has apprehended four suspected cultists who were attempting to evade capture by hiding within the ceiling of a hotel located at the Federal College Junction in Asaba.

The arrest was a result of proactive efforts by operatives from the CP-DECOY Squad.

Acting on credible intel regarding cultists’ activities, the squad mobilized and raided the identified hotel.

Upon encountering police presence, the suspects, all male residents of Asaba, attempted to flee by dispersing in various directions. However, a determined chase by the officers resulted in their capture.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as:

  • Chigozie Edwin (28), native of Akpuoga Village, Ujodo Local Government Area, Enugu State.
  • James Prince Chukwuebuka (20), native of Effiom Village, Ezza North Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
  • Harmony Mkemjika Ohanebum (30), native of Okija Town, Anambra State.
  • Garba Jubril (27), native of Kogmbotō, Kano State.

A search of the hotel ceiling, where the suspects were hiding, yielded two Barreta pistols with live ammunition and a locally-made gun with a single live cartridge.

The Delta State Police are actively searching for any remaining members of the suspected cult gang who managed to escape during the initial confrontation.

In a separate operation, the police have also apprehended two suspects linked to the abduction of a man in the Orerokpe area of the Okpe Local Government Area. The victim was eventually released after an undisclosed ransom was paid.

Following a distress call regarding the kidnapping, Delta State Police swiftly mobilized resources. The Divisional Police Officer led a team of detectives to the scene and conducted a thorough search for the victim and the perpetrators.

Through the use of technically generated intelligence, investigators were able to identify and apprehend two suspects: Peter Idogor (24) and Emmanuel Sunday (19), both residents of Evwreni Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area. The victim himself has confirmed the identity of these two individuals.

Delta State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has issued a stern warning to anyone considering criminal activity within the state. He emphasized that officers are under strict instructions to apprehend criminals and hold them accountable for their actions.
