DSS Uncovers Plot To Cause Religious War In Nigeria

The Department of State Services, DSS, says it has uncovered plans to stir up religious violence in Lagos, Kano, Sokoto and some other states in the country.

In a statement issued by the Head, Public Relations Officer of the service, Peter Afunanya, DSS warns about a plot to incite religious violence across the country.

“The targeted States include Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers, Oyo, Lagos and those in the South East,”the statement said.

According Afunanya, part of the plan is to cause inter-religious conflicts as well as use their foot soldiers to attack some worship centres, religious leaders, personalities, key and vulnerable points.

Similarly, the Service advised Nigerians to be wary of these elements and shun all divisive tendencies aimed at inciting or setting them against one another.

The statement therefore called for collaboration with sister agencies to ensure that public order is maintained.

It said those hatching these plots were warned to desist from such in the interest of peace, security and development of the country.

The service encouraged law-abiding citizens to report suspected breaches of peace around them to the nearest security agencies.
