FG To Begin Feeding Program In FCT, Sokoto, Lagos – Presidency

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said the Federal Government will soon begin the Home Grown School Feeding Program in three states which are the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sokoto and Lagos.

Osinbajo revealed this during his visit to the Human Rights Radio and Television station at Kaura District in Abuja.

He said: “Our Home Grown School Feeding Program is a very serious programme, we are feeding every day now, 9.2 Million children in Nigeria in 26 states, every single day.

“That programme is very important to us because it is in public primary schools in the 26 states where we are in operation at the moment and we are moving on.

“Even the produce, what is used for the feed the students is local. It is from the farms. Almost every week, we use about 6.8 million egg to feed the pupils.

“I will mention the 26 states we are at the moment, the very first state to enjoy the homegrown feeding school feeding was Anambra State and till today they are still doing the programme.

“In Abia, we are feeding 250,734 children, in Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi State, Benue where we have 762,473. Borno, Cross Rivers, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna.

“Kaduna has a very large number, over 1 million children, Kano 900,006 children, Katsina, Niger State, Ogun State, Ondo State, Oyo State, Osun State.”
