Gbajabiamila Names THE WHISTLER Deputy Editor As Media Aide

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has appointed deputy editor of THE WHISTLER newspaper, John Ameh as his special assistant on media research and documentation.

Ameh’s appointment followed recent reorganization of Gbajabiamila’s media team.

Ameh, a Mass Communication graduate of the University of Maiduguri, started a professional career with the Daily Times in 1997 before he joined The PUNCH in August of 1999 as a Correspondent reporting Adamawa State, while also overseeing other North-East states, including Taraba.

Between 2002 and 2004, he was at the Lagos corporate office as a senior correspondent and later assumed duties as the Anambra State Correspondent, a position he held before he moved to Abuja in 2007 as House of Representatives Correspondent.

Ameh reported the National Assembly for almost 11 years, gaining elevation to the status of a Sub-Assistant Editor by the time he was redeployed to the State House, Abuja, in 2018.

In June 2020, he joined THE WHISTLER as deputy editor and held the position till his appointment as Gbajabiamila’s Special Assistant, Media Research and Documentation, on November 5.

Meanwhile, the restructuring of Gbajabiamila’s media team also saw the appointment of Speaker’s former special adviser on political matters, Olanrewaju Smart, as his new deputy chief of staff.

Seun Odofin, who was the special adviser on administration, was appointed as the new special adviser on administration and legislative compliance, while Dubem Moghalu, former special assistant on policy/research and strategy, is now the special adviser policy/research and strategy.

Also appointed were: Dapo Oyewole as the special adviser on international relations and inter-parliamentary affairs, and Charles Omole as special assistant on national security and intelligence reform.

Tabia Princewill, who previously held the position of special assistant on inter-parliamentary, is now the special assistant on social development and events, while Ibrahim Hamza Baba, the former special assistant on internally displaced persons (IDPs) is now the special assistant on humanitarian affairs.

A statement announcing the appointments said the development takes effect immediately.
