Gunmen Kidnap Iyaloja, 15 Others In Ondo

Sixteen traders including the Iyaloja General of Isua Akoko In the Akoko South East Local Government Area Of Ondo State, Chief Mrs Helen Edward, have been kidnapped by gunmen .

Our correspondent gathered that the victims were abducted at Uso town along the Akure -Owo Highway on Friday when they were going back home after holding a meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital

A source in the town told journalists on Saturday that the driver of the bus was released by the hoodlums to go and tell the families of the victims that they had been kidnapped.

The source said, ” The incident happened on Friday when they were going back home after holding a monthly meeting of market leaders in Akure.

” Although some of them were said to have been released , some of the victims are still being held captives by the kidnappers.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident.

He said 10 of the kidnapped persons had been released , saying the police would ensure that others were rescued.
