Gunmen Kidnap Two Persons In Ondo

Two persons have been kidnapped by suspected gunmen along the Ikun-Oba Akoko Road in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The kidnapping came on the heels of the recent launching of Operation Amotekun by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, to tackle violent crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry.

The victims were said to have been attacked and kidnapped by the gunmen on Saturday night when they were returning from the Ikun Akoko Day celebration.

Reports say one of the victims was identified as Surajudeen Alao, a native of Oba Akoko. The identity of the other victim is yet be be known.

The incident is causing anxiety among residents in the area.

Members of the community’s vigilante group and security personnel were said to have combed the spot where the hoodlums carried out their nefarious act.

The families of the victims claimed they were yet to be contacted by the abductors.

However, the police have said efforts are in top gear to rescue the two victims

The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) for the state police command, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, said the police had launched investigations into the incident, giving the assurance that the hoodlums would be brought to book.
