Heartland Fans Disappointed After 5:1 Home Loss To Plateau United

The quest by Heartland Football Club of Owerri to escape relegation from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) was halted as the team was beaten by 5 goals to 1 by Plateau United on Wednesday.

The Nazi millionaires who are bottom of the league table have now lost ten matches out of 22 games played so far this season.

The club’s home game which was played on an adopted Awka city stadium in Awka, the Anambra State capital saw the visitors open up scores 14 minutes into the game by Wale Doyeni. Lawrence Agbor doubled the visitors’ lead six minutes after the first goal was scored.

The woes of Heartland FC was compounded two minutes into the second half as the away team scored three more goals by Nenrot Silas at the 47th minute, Victor Makalala at the 88th and Harrison Ebah at the 93rd minute.

A quick response by Onyekachi Okafor at the 94th minute reduced the goal margin to 1-5.

The scandalous result did not sit well with fans of the Nazi millionaires as they expressed their disappointment at the team’s performance on the teams social media handle.

Mac Patricks on Facebook wondered why the team fell so bad after they were unbeaten before gaining promotion from the Nigerian National League (NNL) into the NPFL

“What exactly is wrong with Heartland FC? Is it management, technical crew, players, or what? Because it’s not possible that a team that went unbeaten to gain promotion will be languishing at the bottom of the league,” he said

Ugonna Michael said: “Heartland FC, I am not surprised that you lost. You have young players to play for you, but you choose favouritism.”

Heartland FC will play their next game on the 3rd of March against Sunshine Stars of Akure who are 15th on the league table at the Awka City Stadium.
