Herdsmen Caught Destroying Farmlands Arrested By Soldiers In Benue

Some prowling herdsmen have been arrested by troops of the ‘Operation Ayem Akpatuma’ after they were caught destroying farmlands at Tse – Tigir and Tse-Ndugh villages in Benue State.

This was according to the Director of Army Public Relations, Texas Chukwu, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday.

Chukwu said the Army has handed the marauding herdsmen as well as items recovered from them to police in the state.

“While in the act of destroying the farmland, the herdsmen sighted the aggressive troops and fled into the bush,” he said.

“The determined troops pursued and arrest them. Items recovered from them are five motorcycles, two machetes, assorted charms and N120, 000,” said the Army spokesperson.

Meanwhile, troops of the 707 Special Forces Brigade had earlier apprehended some suspected cattle rustlers in Katsina Ala local government area of Benue State.

The troops were said to have arrested no fewer than 5 rustlers during a raid on the local government area on Sunday.

The Army named the arrested suspects as, Mr Dennis Victor Terfa, Mr Emmanuel Daniel Akpagher, Mr Akuse Jacob Aondongu, Mr Kpo Isaac and Mr Idika Kelechi.
