The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, has abandoned his primary responsibilities to visit President Muhammadu Buhari in the United Kingdom, amidst debates of the true state of the president’s health.

Idris, on Tuesday, led a “high powered” delegation of policemen to visit President Buhari who earlier announced his departure from Nigeria for a 10-day vacation in London.

According to Vanguard, IGP Idris departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in company of DIG Finance and Administration, Mr. Shuiabu Gambo, Commissioner of Police in Charge Monitoring Unit, CP Umar Garba as well as other high ranking police officers.

The impromptu trip by the police boss may not be unconnected to earlier reports that the president had died while undergoing treatment in a London hospital.

Although Senior Special Assistant to the President, Bashir Ahmaad, dispelled the reports when he posted a picture on Twitter, which showed the president watching Sunday Politics on Channels Television.
