Nigerian Defender Troost-Ekong Makes Dream Move To Premier League

Nigerian defender, William Troost-Ekong has made a switch from Italian Seria A side Udinese to English Championship side Watford.

Ekong signed a five year contract with the Hornets that will see him play till 2025 at the Championship side.

The 27 year old played for Udinese for two seasons and was involved in 66 games for the Italian side after moving from Turkish club Bursaspor.

Speaking to BBC Sports Africa, the defender said his move to Watford is to help the team get back to the Premiere league.

“I believe in the project for Watford to get back into the Premier League.

“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League and Watford has given me the platform now to get there. Looking at the squad, I believe we have the quality to do it.

“I’ve always made tactical decisions for my career and this felt like the right step now for me and my family.

“As for my international future, I have shown what I can add to the Super Eagles. I have consistently contributed to the team’s success in the last five years and have had the pleasure of captaining the team.”
