A Nigerian soldier shot his colleague on Friday in a camp near Cameroon, THE WHISTLER has gathered.
The shooter was said to have mistaken his colleague for an enemy when he opened fire.
Another source, however, said that the shooter could have been drunk at the time of the incident.
THE WHISTLER learnt that the wounded victim, Private Oke Eke, with Army Number: 12na/67/2586, was thereafter rushed to the Joint Multinational Task Force hospital in Cameroon where he is receiving treatment.
“It is true that one of our colleagues was shot by a fellow soldier on Friday but the victim has been rushed to the JTF hospital in Cameroon,” a source close to the camp where the incident happened told THE WHISTLER.
The shooter and the victim are members of the Nigerian military fighting Boko Haram in the North-East.
The Boko Haram insurgency, which started in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria, has spread to Cameroon. Chad and Niger.
Several lives have been lost and many wounded since the insurgency began a couple of years ago.
