The former Arsenal forward has struggled for playing time at Barcelona this season, starting just three matches and making 14 overall appearances.

The Spanish club decided to cash in on Oshoala in the January transfer window, because her contract runs out in the summer, and in order to avoid losing her for free, both parties decided it was the best time to go their separate ways.

Bay Football Club paid $163,000 to Barcelona to complete the signing of the Super Falcons star.

She signed a two-year deal with the American club with the option of a further year.

Oshoala is delighted to join Bay FC after discussing with the team’s head coach, Albertin Montoya.

Oshoala said: “I spoke with [Montoya] earlier and I like the style of play, the style of football he wants to play,” Oshoala told The Equalizer.

She added, “I like the fact that he wants to do something different, something you don’t get to see in the NWSL every time because mostly this league is about transition. But he wants something different. He wants to keep the ball; he wants to play an attacking style of football. And I feel like coming from Barcelona, it’s something I would really love to be a part of.”

Oshoala joined Barcelona in 2019 and went to enjoy five successful years with the club winning all the trophies available.

She was part of the Barcelona Femeni team that won the treble in 2022 and repeated the feat a year later.

The 29-year-old won a total of 14 trophies for the club and also won the Spanish Iberdrola League top scorer award in 2022.

Oshoala scored 117 goals in 162 appearances for Barcelona Femeni.

Bay FC is an American professional women’s soccer team based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. They will be participating in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as an expansion team in the 2024 season.

Oshoala will make her NWSL debut on March 17 when BAY FC take on Angel City at the BMO stadium.
