PLATEAU: Mangu Under Attack 24 Hours After Gov Mutfwang Relaxed Curfew

There are reports of another attack in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack was said to have occurred on Saturday morning, a few hours after the state government relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed over insecurity in the area, on Tuesday.

According to the report, the incident followed a clash that occurred between soldiers and armed men in two Mangu communities.

Although details of the incidents are still sketchy as of press time, Daily Trust had quoted a security source with knowledge of the incident who revealed that the armed men came in their numbers to attack some of the communities along Gindri road.

The state government on Friday night, announced the relaxation of the curfew, revealing that the restriction is now to be observed from 4 pm to 8 am daily until further notice.

The state government noted that the review came after an improvement in the security situation in Mangu.

Mangu LGA has been under attack in the past week as the suspected ethno-religious conflict heightened in the area despite security measures set up by the Federal and State governments.
