The letter said in part, “Massive killing of innocent citizens, vigilante groups, and security agents including the kidnapping for ransom shall come to an end by the grace of God.

“This is subject to the unconditional ban of vigilantes groups. Then we will drop all our arms,”.

Turji added that they would not lay down their arms if other citizens were allowed to attack and kill Fulanis in the name of vigilantes. He said the only way to peace is for Law & Order to be left exclusively to security forces.

He also called for a summit between terrorists, politicians, traditional rulers and Imams, where they can air their grievances and an agreement on how to resolve them is reached.

He promised to ensure all weapons held by terrorists are confisticated if the government agrees to his conditions.

The terror group leader also raised the issue of alleged marginalisation of Fulanis, noting that they’re not out to break up Nigeria or take over the government, but they had been pushed to the wall by discrimination & bigotry against them.

Finally, Turji emphasised that the summit they’re demanding must include all first-class emirs and senior Imams, and specifically Sheik Ahmed Gumi.

The letter followed an incident on Thursday where Turji’s group reportedly suffered a heavy blow during a gun duel with troops of the Nigerian Army.

The terror leader and his group are operating in Shinkafi, Isa, Sabon-Birni, Rabah and Goronyo Local Government Areas of Zamfara and Sokoto States.
